The Shad Foundation is excited to announce another impactful event at the Youth Development Center (YDC) Rawalpindi) — a powerful session titled “Climate Action & The Power of Data.”

This upcoming gathering will take place on Sunday, October 19th, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at the Youth Development Center Rawalpindi. The event will feature an interactive session with Kamran Ali, a renowned climate activist, development professional, and Co-founder of Fridays for Future Pakistan — one of the country’s most active youth movements for environmental justice.

A Session Dedicated to Awareness, Action, and Impact

Climate change is among the greatest challenges facing humanity today. Rising temperatures, unpredictable weather, glacial melt, and water scarcity are transforming ecosystems and threatening lives — particularly in Pakistan’s northern mountain regions like Gilgit-Baltistan, where environmental shifts are directly impacting communities.

To address these urgent issues, the Shad Foundation’s Youth Development Center Rawalpindi is hosting this interactive session to raise awareness about how data-driven insights can help communities design better, faster, and more effective climate solutions.

This session aims to connect youth, students, and professionals who are eager to understand the science of climate change, the importance of sustainable planning, and the vital role of data in shaping environmental policy and adaptation strategies.

Meet the Speaker: Kamran Ali – Climate Activist and Change-Maker

Kamran Ali is a passionate environmentalist and social leader from Gilgit-Baltistan. As the Co-founder of Fridays for Future Pakistan and Cluster Head at Plant-for-the-Planet, he has been leading climate education initiatives that empower young people across Pakistan to take meaningful action for the planet.

Kamran has worked with organizations such as WWF-Pakistan and I Help, and has collaborated with the Ministry of Climate Change and the United Nations to strengthen youth engagement in climate advocacy. His work reflects his belief that the fight against climate change starts with knowledge, collaboration, and data transparency.

In 2023, Kamran represented Pakistan at the COP28 Climate Conference, where he spoke about the climate vulnerabilities of mountainous regions like Gilgit-Baltistan — highlighting how communities in these areas are already experiencing the effects of melting glaciers, flash floods, and ecosystem loss.

What to Expect from the Session

This event will take participants beyond awareness — into actionable understanding. Kamran Ali will discuss how modern tools and accurate data collection can guide effective climate policies, enhance community preparedness, and support long-term sustainability goals.

The discussion will cover:

  • The importance of climate data in shaping real-world policies.
  • How youth-driven movements are leading environmental advocacy in Pakistan.
  • The role of technology and innovation in reducing climate vulnerability.
  • Case studies from Gilgit-Baltistan and other regions where data-driven initiatives have helped communities adapt.
  • Opportunities for youth involvement in climate education and resilience programs.

Through open dialogue and real-life examples, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how informed action — powered by data — can accelerate the transition toward a sustainable and climate-resilient Pakistan.

Why This Event Matters

The Shad Foundation recognizes that building a better future starts with empowering people through education and awareness. Climate change affects us all, but by understanding the science and solutions, communities can work together to adapt and thrive.

This session will:

  • Help young people grasp the importance of data in climate solutions.
  • Encourage collaboration between youth, institutions, and communities.
  • Promote local climate leadership in regions like Gilgit-Baltistan.
  • Strengthen the Foundation’s commitment to environmental and youth development causes.

Through this event, Shad Foundation continues its mission to create spaces where ideas transform into action — especially among Pakistan’s youth, who hold the power to shape a sustainable tomorrow.
